The strong earthquake in Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province has rocked China on May 12, 2008 and has caused significant loss of life as well as damage to property and infrastructure. Over10,000 people have been reported dead, a figure that may rise in coming days. Countless people have been injured.
The victims of this earthquake are in urgent need of assistance. Authorities are doing everything possible to alleviate the situation, but with a disaster of this scale victims are in need of all the help they can get. Right after the earthquake, Golden State’s management and employees showed great attention and made quick responds by  launching the donation program, “Rescue Life and Relieve Disaster”, on May 14, 2008.
Led by Golden State’s Corporate Communication Department, a dozen of Golden State’s group companies joined the program such as GSEGC, Golden State Renewable Resources Corporation. Donations collected will be sent to China Red Cross in the name of Golden State for earthquake relief and reconstruction.
Golden State’ Hope Primary School, located in Jiagenba town, Sichuan Kangding area, is within the earthquake area. Due to damaged communication, Golden State did not reach the school until May 13. Fortunately, the whole school escaped from the disaster. Pupils and teachers are safe and already back to class. It is absolutely good news to all employees of Golden State.
